Tokyo Night Walk: Bar Alley Stroll in Sangenjaya

Step into the electric maze of Sangenjaya as Tokyo’s nightlife sparks to life. In this twilight walking tour, I explore three of Sangenjaya’s most iconic nighttime streets: • Suzuran-dori — A narrow, lantern-lit alley packed with izakaya and smoky kitchen aromas. • Sankakugai (Triangle Street) — A tangle of tiny bars and flickering neon signs tucked between alley corners. • Sakae-dori — A wider strip pulsing with the energy of bar-hoppers and late-night wanderers. From the clink of glasses to the hum of laughter spilling out of doorways, this walk captures the mood and soundscape of a Tokyo neighborhood that locals love and tourists rarely find. 📍 Filmed in the early evening, Sangenjaya, Tokyo. 🗾 No narration — just sights, sounds, and the soul of the street. #Tokyo #walking #Japan #Sangenjaya #sancha #izakaya Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to my channel: YouTube.com/@nealgraham Follow me on Instagram: instagram.com instagram.com

The Red Sea | We’ve Saved a Place for You

The Red Sea has revealed key details behind its recent We've Saved a Place for You campaign, which has been creating quite the buzz on social media channels for its storytelling and continuity – building on its previous Be The First campaign. The campaign evokes an emotional truth behind the destination: that The Red Sea has always been around, waiting — not simply to be seen, but to be felt and experienced. Rooted in the spirit of Hafawa, which refers to the unique Saudi warmth and hospitality, the campaign unveils The Red Sea as a destination designed with purpose: a reserved paradise that balances sustainability and luxury; a place where boundless experiences meet tailored personal journeys. Structured around three campaign pillars: Reserved Paradise (Place), Boundless Spirit (Pulse) and Tailored Luxury (People), the campaign is an open invitation to reconnect with the world, with others, and with oneself through the transformative power of nature, culture and hospitality. With this foundation, the We’ve Saved a Place for You campaign sets the tone for The Red Sea’s evolution from an emerging destination to a benchmark in purposeful luxury tourism. Rollout of The Red Sea We've Saved a Place for You campaign In an exclusive conversation with Campaign Middle East, Julie Audette, Senior Director – Tourism Marketing, The Red Sea, revealed, "We partnered with a trusted collective of creative and media specialists to bring our campaign vision to life. The creative concept and development were spearheaded by Freedom in collaboration with Beautiful Destinations, who also handled production of the hero film. Paid media strategy and execution were led by Starcom, ensuring the right channels were selected for maximum reach and performance, while The Red Sea's destination communications partner, PRCO, led the integrated consumer storytelling." The Red Sea adopted a data-driven, digital-first approach that enabled precise audience targeting and real-time performance optimisation. The media mix included social platforms, paid search, and placements in luxury print titles. To amplify visibility among affluent travellers, The Red Sea also undertook activations in exclusive spaces such as private jet lounges and premium travel hubs — ensuring the brand reached audiences in lifestyle-aligned, decision-making environments. Talking to Campaign Middle East, Elias Saroufim, Director – Paid Media and Campaigns, The Red Sea, said, "This paid media campaign embraced a digital-first, social-led strategy to engage high-net-worth (HNWI) and ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI) through premium, high-impact channels. At its core was a cinematic hero film that brought the essence of The Red Sea to life. This was supported by a broad suite of static and carousel creatives optimised for performance, designed to deepen engagement and drive conversion." Through continuous A/B testing and creative iteration, The Red Sea refined our messaging for maximum relevance and impact — ensuring the right story reached the right audience at the right time. Saroufim added, "This campaign was architected to support full-funnel objectives: from sparking initial awareness of The Red Sea as a luxury destination, to building deeper consideration, and ultimately driving bookings. Every channel was selected based on its ability to reach and resonate with HNWIs and UHNWIs at key moments in their travel planning journey." Audette added, "The campaign will run until December 2025, allowing for a sustained brand presence throughout the year and supporting ongoing engagement with our target audience." I’ve Hiked in More Than 100 European National Parks—These Are the Most Beautiful

The best thing about Europe’s national parks? They may lack the size of their U.S. counterparts, but they sure do pack a compact punch. Iceland’s Vatnajökull National Park is one example, a place where I crawled through tunnels of glacier ice, speed-boated around icebergs that flipped and calved, and felt the thunderous power of Dettifoss waterfall as it churned beneath me. These seven national parks offer plenty of adventures within their borders and have so much more to explore beyond their headline-grabbing hot spots.

A Guide to Cycling the Ha Giang Loop

The Ha Giang Loop is a route through the soaring karst mountains, steep rice terraces and indigenous villages of Vietnam’s far north. It takes you through the Ha Giang province, one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the world – home to 16 indigenous ethnic minority groups, including the H’mong and Tay people. The Ha Giang Loop (also known as the Ha Giang Gauntlet) recently surged in popularity as a route for motorcyclists. However, according to Thai Hang, who leads cycle tours across Vietnam, it’s also an ideal challenge for experienced cyclists. “Vietnam is a country built for two wheels,” he says. “Our roads and trails are designed for motorbikes, which means with a bicycle you can go anywhere. I’m a route designer, so I spend a lot of time exploring and looking at the map, trying to connect places. “We designed our own variant of the Ha Giang Loop. It's a seven day ride that goes from mountain to mountain, and village to village. Every day you’ll see something new.”

This Ruin-to-Ruin Hike Has 435 Miles of Coastal Towns, Sarcophagi, and Swimming in the Mediterranean

The Lycian Way is a trail that follows ancient trade, military, and pilgrimage routes used by the Lycians, a maritime civilization that predates the Romans and resided in Asia Minor from roughly the 15th century B.C.E. until the 6th century C.E. The path runs from the outskirts of the seaside port city of Fethiye to the edge of the historic resort city Antalya, traversing pine-covered mountains, coastal cliffs, and valleys of olive trees before dropping repeatedly toward the Mediterranean’s luminous bays. Along the way, hikers pass through thousands of years of history in this open-air museum: sarcophagus-filled necropolises, cities under active excavation, and ancient theaters still echoing with drama.

I’ve Lived in the Caribbean for 8 Years, and These Are My Absolute Favorite Beaches

Growing up outside Manhattan (Long Island, to be exact), I knew early that there were two things I wanted to avoid: freezing-cold weather and fast-paced city life. Eight years ago, I bought a one-way ticket to the Caribbean island of Vieques, an approximately 135-square-mile island off the coast of mainland Puerto Rico, where I am never more than a couple of miles from my daily dose of vitamin sea. This vacation hot spot receives its biggest influx of tourists in the winter, but there’s plenty to see and do in the off-peak months, too—just with a bit more heat and humidity. And if you pick the right island, you can avoid the risks that come with hurricane season (which officially runs from June 1 through October 31). Whether you want to surf epic waves, kick back with a piña colada and a pool noodle, or explore natural scenery above and below sea level, you’ll find an endless array of amazing choices in the Caribbean. Here are three of my favorite Caribbean beaches from my adopted island—plus two more around the region that are worth the trip.

Why You Might Need an Adventure - The Atlantic

In 2017, a scholar at the Murdoch University in Australia proposed a provocative hypothesis about why materially comfortable humans would nonetheless be drawn to difficult, even dangerous tasks. The researcher started from the observation that the universe is at once life-giving and deadly, and that therefore, from the outset, humans needed to embrace risk to flourish. This characteristic, arguably encoded in the genome ever since, may manifest in human beings as a tendency to adopt risky heroic behaviors and admire them in fellow humans.

World’s Toughest Train Rides | Cuba: On Rusty Rails | Free Documentary World’s Toughest Train Rides - India: youtu.be Cuba’s railway network may be dilapidated and unreliable but it offers a captivating journey through history and was one of the first countries to build a railway in 1837, to transport sugarcane during its peak as the world’s largest sugar producer. Traveling from Havana to Santa Clara reveals the challenges of aging infrastructure and the impact of the U.S. embargo. Then you can see the lagoon on the other side of the wall, so calm, but if you look carefully you can see the waves crashing against its outer reef. Then we move to the pipes where the water is runnning from the lagoon into the harbour. And there is Run to Paradise tied up nice and securely.

A guide to Albania, Europe's best-kept secret | CN Traveller

Bunkers, secluded beaches, ancient traditions, and a resurgent cuisine. It all awaits in this tiny, mountainous country. Year after year, Europe is on the minds of countless travellers around the world, all in search of guaranteed sunshine and sandy shores. One country, however, remains under the radar despite occupying prime real estate in the Mediterranean: Albania. Located north of Greece and south of Montenegro, this Muslim-majority nation in the Balkan Peninsula boasts age-old traditions, a charming coastline and a cuisine driven by locally sourced ingredients. Then there’s the ancient code of honour, besa, translating to the kind of hospitality that can restore one’s faith in humanity. And because Albania isn't part of the Schengen Area, the independent e-visa process is a breeze to navigate. Another bonus: it’s yet to be overrun by mass tourism, so visitors can still enjoy untamed beauty across the country – outdoorsy types tend to hit the popular hiking trails in the Albanian Alps up north, while leisure seekers are more drawn to the picturesque Albanian Riviera in the south. As for what makes it especially fascinating? A highly unusual past. If you are planning a trip, these are the best places to visit in Albania.

Italy's Egadi Islands Are an Oasis of Wild Italian Living | Conde Nast Traveler

The Egadi archipelago, composed of three main islands named Favignana (the largest), Levanzo, and Marettimo, is a feral landscape of phantasmagoric rock set within Europe's biggest marine reserve. Bohemian Sicilians come here to hide out and reset: The Egadis are just 93 miles from Tunisia's Cape Bon, and the closeness to somewhere so culturally distant from Europe makes them feel even farther from the Italian mainland. Below the water, Neptune grass writhes like cilia, bringing up shipwrecked relics—Phoenician, Roman, Norman, Arab, Aragonese—that are so common the locals use them as paperweights.

Italy's Egadi Islands Are an Oasis of Wild Italian Living

Just off the western point of Sicily, the Italian island fantasy embodied by the likes of Capri and Panarea becomes raw and wild amid spawning bluefins and North African winds.

Disney’s Most Iconic Attraction Is Now a Bar

Within the Pirates of the Caribbean ride canon, The Beak and Barrel carries a special backstory. It was established by Captain Merry Goldwyn, but its real star is the wise-cracking Rummy, her first mate animatronic parrot. Much of the major show moments within the bar (when it comes “alive”), which take place around every 10 minutes, are centered around the bird. A standout moment is his urgent call to action (“Button down the hatches! Hoist the mainsails!”) before a storm engulfs the room via special effects.

Torres Strait Islands: It took me 20 years to get here, it was worth it

I almost came here more than 20 years ago when I was covering the Olympic relay. Thursday Island/Waibene promised to be the most fascinating stop on our torch-chasing itinerary, but we missed the flight from Cairns. Now, finally, I’m here. Thanks to Strait Experience, a tour company launched last year by Nai and business partner John Palmer to make it easier to explore this exotic enclave. You can now fly in for a day from Cairns and tour Ngurupai (Horn) and Waibene, the two main islands. Or arrange a longer visit like mine. Four days gives me just enough time to learn a little about the people, their customs, and their enviably laid-back lifestyle. Flights (from Cairns) land at Ngurupai, a jungled island that played a pivotal role in Australia’s World War II defence. The airstrip you land on is the same one Allied planes used to ward off Japanese invasion.

The Bone Cemetery: A Visit to Capuchin Crypt in Rome

Located near the busy streets of Via Veneto, this crypt is famous for its unique decorations made entirely from human bones, creating an atmosphere that is equal parts eerie and reverent. I think many of us have a morbid fascination with death. Perhaps most interesting to me are the rituals and traditions that surround death, and how they differ around the world and throughout history. If we go back to the times of Ancient Egypt, we can see through the extraordinary process of mummification that the notion of afterlife has been a question that has plagued society. It’s believed by many that life continues after death in one form or another. The Capuchin Friars who lived in Rome were no exception. Those who have died are gone but not forgotten.

Shabby-chic bars in dilapidated old ruins make for wonderfully atmospheric nights out Set in dilapidated old buildings and abandoned spaces the ruin bars in Budapest are where you’ll find some of the city’s best nightlife. Budapest’s ruin bars were born at the turn of the new millennium from the gentrifying urban decay of the city’s 7th District. These creative and cobbled-together spaces quite literally hijack ruins – abandoned warehouses, empty parking lots, historic buildings – and call them home. Within the sprawling interiors and courtyards, you’ll find colourful kitsch fairy lights, mismatched vintage furniture and peeling paint, and, for those looking for a good time, lively crowds, international DJs and beer for pocket change. From the famous Szimpla Kert to the more low-key Csendes Létterem and Köleves Kert, an evening in ruins is certainly something to aspire to.

Malta may be small, but its captivating history packs a serious punch. Over the years, the Maltese islands have been ruled by the Romans, Phoenicians, Arabs, French, Knights of St. John, and the British Empire, and each of these powers has left a distinctive mark on Malta’s architecture, culture, and traditions. Nan Madol: The City Built on Coral Reefs

Our destination is Nan Madol, near the southern side of the island, the only ancient city ever built atop of a coral reef. Its imposing yet graceful ruins are made of stones and columns so heavy that no one has figured out how it was built. Besides the elegance of the walls and platforms, there is no carving, no art – nothing except legend to remember the people, called the Saudeleur, who ruled the island for more than a millennium. They were deeply religious and sometimes cruel, and modern Pohnpeians view the ruins as a sacred and scary place where spirits own the night. Abandoned centuries ago and now mostly covered with jungle, Nan Madol may soon be getting a makeover. Before I explore it, I stop to discuss its future with the man who holds sway over this part of Pohnpei.
