Music Together of Fairfield County (MTFC) was founded in April 1994 by Jackie Jacobs. Jackie was the first to bring Music Together® to Connecticut when she moved here with her family from Brooklyn, where she taught classes for Music Together of Brooklyn. She discovered her passion for Music Together after taking her son Daniel to the program in Brooklyn Heights and observing the response he had to the classes. She also loved the fact that she learned about music and child development alongside his learning, and was excited about the research behind the program. As a former professional dancer and singer, with a BA in dance education, teaching seemed to be a natural fit. Jackie eagerly started her own Music Together program in Fairfield when she and her family moved into the suburbs! Twenty eight years later, she is thrilled to still be in the classroom making music with children and parents, teaching Mixed Age, Rhythm Kids®, and InSchool outreach classes in the city of Bridgeport. Her proudest accomplishment so far has been, that she is provider of Music Together classes to low income children across the city of Bridgeport for the last sixteen years. Over 10,000 children and families have been able to receive Music Together free of charge through her partnerships with ABCD INC, The Total Learning Initative, Bridge Together, Bridgeport Public Schools, and the Turn Around Arts Initiative. As an Early Childhood Music Educator, she conducts workshops for preschools and daycare providers. Jackie has also served on the Editorial Board for Music Together, and has been featured as a teacher trainer in over 30 videos for the program! She is a national workshop leader for Music Together and a consultant/ advisor for their In-School programs. She holds Certification Level 2 for Teaching Mastery.

The Gig Center at Westport

Our Kid Gigs are for students ages 12-17. (For younger kids, see "Gig Starters", below.) No performance experience is required, but students are expected to at least have "advanced beginner" skills on their principal instrument. Bands meet on a weekly basis, for two hours. (We also have a one-hour program for younger kids, see below.) The sessions generally run for about 4 months (16 weeks). However, depending on start dates and other scheduling concerns - including what's convenient for our students - sessions might run anywhere from about 12 to 20 weeks. We'll have start dates, end dates, and performance dates for each session posted as early as possible. All sessions culminate in a live performance at a public venue. An instructor (or "show leader") will help with song selection, lead the weekly rehearsals, and keep everyone organized with charts and other resources, ensuring a well monitored, efficiently run rehearsal. Songs may be moved to appropriate keys to accommodate the singers.

Incorporated on December 5, 1983, Homes with Hope (formerly the Interfaith Housing Association) opened in 1984 as a homeless shelter for single men, and occupied a retired firehouse owned by the Town of Westport. Local religious organizations worked together to create the Interfaith Housing Association in response to an increased number of homeless individuals, primarily men, who were turning to them for aid. Homes with Hope has grown significantly since 1984. As the need began to increase, we realized that food and shelter alone were not enough to help people move from homelessness to self-reliance. In response, Homes with Hope expanded the support services and housing options currently available to our clients by providing the resources needed for them to be successful in their journey out of homelessness. Today, the agency provides emergency shelter for men and women, supportive housing for individuals and families, rapid re-housing, diversion services, a community kitchen, food pantry, youth development programs and mentoring. Wildlife in Crisis: Wildlife Preservation and Land Conservation

Wildlife in Crisis is a volunteer-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to wildlife preservation and land conservation. Since 1988, residents of Fairfield County confronting a wildlife issue have counted on Wildlife in Crisis, the only all-species wildlife care center in the region. The present clubhouse was completed in 2015 and provides various entertaining spaces for our members and their guests. The Grill Room, complete with a full bar and fireplace is a casual place to gather, watch the game and have lunch or dinner Wednesdays through Sundays. The Polo Lounge is a space for adults to work during the day or grab an evening cocktail with friends in a cozy and comfortable setting. The main dining room is a beautiful and welcoming space for large member events as well as private events including weddings, business conferences, family celebrations and milestones, sports banquets, and bar and bat mitzvahs.

The Walrus story began in 2013 with the desire to offer a truly unique American experience from the mastery of southern-inspired smoking techniques to our hand-selected craft beers, wines and liquors. The original Walrus + Carpenter was serving the artistic community of Black Rock, Connecticut for 7 years. Since then, Walrus Alley has opened in Westport, Connecticut, offering Southern hospitality to the area. True to the American experience, Walrus is an independent, family-owned and operated establishment. Owner, Joseph Farrell grew up in Westport, went to Fairfield Prep, and continues to be a proud member of the Connecticut-community.
